Student Achievements!

MECS is thrilled to announce that Year 10 student, Bethany has been announced as the 2026 National Simpson Prize Winner for Victoria.
The Simpson Prize is a prestigious national civics-based research essay competition supported by the Australian Government Department of Education through Civics and Citizenship Education and is run by the History Teachers Association of Australia.
Bethany submitted an essay written on the usefulness of diary entries, letters and photographs for providing evidence about the contrasting experiences and perspectives of Australians who served in either the First World War or the Second World War.
At the end of March Bethany was in Canberra at Parliament House receiving her award and participated in a three-day study program, followed by an eleven-day study tour in Japan & Singapore!
Bethany, we could not be prouder of you. What an incredible opportunity.
