As always, we love catching up with news from our former Collegians.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Old Collegian, Shyan Punyadasa, (MOC 2021) on his recent Engineering Award. Shyan was awarded the Australian Steel Institute Award for Level 3 Structural Engineering at Monash University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Presented in early June this year, the award recognises Shyan for achieving the top score in CIV3221 - Building Structures and Technology; a demanding unit at one of Australia’s leading engineering faculties. The award is sponsored by the Australian Steel Institute, the peak body for the steel construction industry in Australia. Shyan, we are immensely proud of you, and congratulate you on this well-deserved and prestigious award!
It was fabulous to catch up with so many of our Old Boys and their families at the recent Mass held in honour of the Feast Day of St Anthony, at St John Vianney’s Catholic Church, Springvale North. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Andrew Madry, the Parish Priest of both St Justin’s Wheelers Hill and Good Shepherd, Wheelers Hill, and the Episcopal Vicar for the Archdiocese of Melbourne, and by Fr David Francis OMI, the Parish Priest of St John Vianney’s, Springvale North. This Mass brought together the Parishioners from St John Vianney’s, as well many families from surrounding Parishes as everyone gathered to ask for the intercession of St Anthony of Padua. It was wonderful to be united with so many of our Old Boys and their families. Anh Nguyen (MOC 2007) did a fantastic job in being the photographer and videographer of this great occasion.
Both of us and our MOCA Committee are always available to chat, or to assist our Old Boys in their times of need. In recent weeks, we have been blessed to support our Old Collegians who are experiencing illness in their families, as well as, Old Collegians who have experienced the deaths of loved ones. We seek to support one another by our prayers, friendship, and actions.
We are always keen to promote our Old Collegians and their professions, businesses and trades. Please feel free to contact us at Mazenod College. We will include these in our Mazenod College Newsletter, The Mazenod Gazette, as well as on our Alumnly Website and on our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Association Facebook page.
We are still earnestly striving to obtain employment for two of our Old Collegians. They are both great people and from wonderful Mazenod families.
The first is an Old Collegian who was employed in a Pizza Restaurant for the past fifteen years. This meant working extremely long hours and never getting home before midnight. He is fifty-one years old and is seeking a change of pace, a change of career. He is extremely enthusiastic about life, a very hard worker; r; a great people person, and willing to give anything a try. If anyone has any jobs, or is simply interested in speaking to our Old Collegian about possibilities of work, please call Daniel on 0429 601 352.
The second Old Collegian, George (MOC 2025), has about four weeks left on his pre-apprenticeship course. After this concludes, he is seeking an electrical apprenticeship. George is a cheerful, friendly, reliable, very hard worker who is passionate about becoming an electrician. He has loved his pre-apprenticeship course. If anyone can help George with an apprenticeship, please contact his Mum, Judy, during the day, as George is away on building sites. He will return your calls in the evening.
Please call Judy on 0400 455 396.
How wonderful to see that our Old Collegians, the Steinfort Brothers were front and centre at the Australia’s thrilling 2-0 World Cup opening win over Turkey!
The photo below shows from left to right: Tom Steinfort (MOC 2002), Paddy Steinfort (MOC 1996), Daniel Steinfort (MOC 1992) and Carl Steinfort (MOC 1994).

An integral part of MOCA is our involvement with our Sporting Clubs.
We have received the following information from the Mazenod Soccer Club regarding their school holiday program.
