Term 2 ACC Results

Term 2 ACC sport concluded last week, with Mazenod students achieving strong results across multiple sports and year levels.

Our Badminton program had an outstanding season, with Grand Final wins across Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, and Senior.

The Senior Grand Final was played at MSAC, where Jasper (Year 11) was named Best Player for his performance.

Mazenod Soccer also featured strongly, with Year 7 Soccer A, Year 8 Soccer B, and Year 10 Soccer all reaching Grand Finals. The Year 10 team finished the season as champions after a close match decided by penalties.

We acknowledge all students who represented the College throughout the term, and especially our Year 12 students for their years of dedication to ACC sport and their leadership across the season.

The Push-Up Challenge

Students across Mazenod have been taking part in The Push-Up Challenge, joining thousands of Australians in raising awareness for mental health.

The challenge runs through June, with participants completing push-ups each day while learning more about mental health, wellbeing, and suicide prevention.

On Thursday 18 June, Mazenod passed 200,000 push-ups as a school, a significant shared effort from students across the College.

Each push-up is a small action, but together they have created a strong reminder of the importance of conversation, connection, and looking out for one another.

New Basketball Partnership

Mazenod College is pleased to begin a new basketball partnership with Joey Wright and Shoot HQ.

Joey is a three-time NBL Coach of the Year and NBL Championship coach, with extensive playing and coaching experience in Australia and the United States.

Through this partnership, Joey and his coaching team will work with our Senior and Year 7 ACC Basketball programs, supporting player development, team preparation, and the continued growth of basketball at the College.

With Shoot HQ now located nearby in Notting Hill, this is a strong opportunity for our students to learn from experienced coaches in a dedicated basketball training environment.

Year 7 Drama lesson

Dr Shannon became the student during a recent Year 7 Drama lesson, as students turned the tables for a special “Teach the Principal” activity. Focusing on vocal expression, the class guided him through volume, pitch and pace, before Dr Shannon shared how he prepares when speaking to the College community. Our students demonstrated impressive confidence and expertise, enjoying the opportunity to take to the stage alongside the Principal.

On June 15th, 29 of our Year 7 and 8 students competed in the Mazenod House Chess Tournament.

The tournament brought together strong young players from across the College, with students testing their focus, patience, and decision-making across a series of competitive matches.

Congratulations to Dylan, Akshobhya, Muthuka, Huy, Neelesh, and Karlson, who finished as the top six overall placegetters.

The event also helps strengthen our internal chess program and identify players for future school competitions.
