Visual Art - Mrs Anstis
Students have been busy this fortnight consolidating their knowledge of colour, experimenting with sketching and dabbling in the world of optical illusions.
Junior classes learnt about Andy Warhol's style of art, drafted and created colourful pop art depicting their favourite ice cream flavours.
Senior students followed step by step instructions to sketch a 3D ladder, vortex and wormhole. They used shading to create the illusion of shadows and tunnels, as well as imagining where the ladder or tunnel could take them...
Science - Mrs Lewis
Grade 3/4 students have been learning all about thermal energy in Science this term, and thoroughly enjoyed their investigation to test the melting of different coloured chocolates. I was so impressed with the responsibility and inquiy skills all students demonstrated in the session; well done Grade 3 & 4's!
Across other grade levels students have been exploring other types of energy and forces, including electrical energy and magnetic forces. We have had so much fun developing our inquiry skills and understanding of physics this term!
WHAT'S HAPPENING NEXT SEMESTER?
Next semester in Science students will be completing units about earth & space sciences. Some year levels will be learning about the Sun, Earth & Moon, some will delve deeper into the other components of our Solar System, and some will focus on the wonderful and whacky water cycle back here on Earth.
In addition, many science enrichment sessions have been organised; see the poster attached for more info!
