The Resilience Project

Term 2 wrap up - Juniors

This term in the junior room we have focussed on the meaning of the word Empathy. The class has been learning how we can be empathetic to our friends, family, classmates and community members. We have discovered that empathy is a way of understanding other peoples feelings and looking at things from someone else's perspective.

The children also participated in a Reconciliation Week activity at the end of May, where we made Yarning Sticks. We talked about the meaning and use of Yarning Sticks in Indigenous culture. We have ended the term by starting a new topic - Gratitude. We will continue to explore Gratitude into Term 3.

Term 2 wrap up - Seniors

The Seniors have also focused on Empathy and were able to put this into practice when we wrote letters to the residents of the Inglewood hostel. We were even lucky enough for Mrs Coffey to organise a special visit from the hostel residents, where students were able to meet the residents that they wrote to. We have also been looking at Random Acts of Kindness and how we can do small acts for other people to make a positive difference.
