SSWA Girls Netball Carnival

On Tuesday, 13 May, four teams proudly represented our College at the Fremantle Netball Association School Sport WA Netball Carnival. The event showcased outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork, with two Year 7/8 teams and two Year 9/10 teams competing. All players displayed exceptional skill and unwavering determination throughout the day.

Congratulations to all the players who participated, however a special mention goes to our Year 7/8 A team, who won three of their four games. We now eagerly await the results to see if they progress to the next round.

We were also delighted to see an incredible amount of parent support and presence throughout the day. From cheering on the sidelines and offering encouragement, our parents played an integral role in creating a positive and supportive atmosphere for our students.

It was wonderful to see so much support from our Certificate III Sport and Recreation students, who played a key role in the day’s success. These students stepped up to assist with scoring, coaching, and umpiring, showcasing their leadership skills and commitment to fostering a positive sporting environment. Their contributions were invaluable, and we are proud of their efforts.

The SSWA Boys Netball Carnival is coming up in Week 7—stay tuned for updates on their performance!

Football

Term Two is shaping up to be a huge term for football at the College, with a total of 21 after-school games and carnivals scheduled across the SSWA and ACC competitions. This busy calendar gives our students the opportunity to showcase the skills and tactics they've developed through morning training sessions and class time in Term One. We’re looking forward to seeing all teams continue to grow and represent the College with pride.

On Monday 12 of May, our Senior Girls and Intermediate Boys played a double header against Safety Bay at the Sam Kerr Football Centre. The Senior Girls showed glimpses of excellent football, despite going down 5–1 to a strong opponent. Emily scored a well-earned goal late in the match, and the team should be proud of their efforts as they now prepare for the ACC Carnival on Thursday 22 May.

The Intermediate Boys started strongly, producing some of the best football we’ve seen in the program during the first 15 minutes. Eamon and Kasper gave us an early 2–0 lead, but we lost momentum and conceded just before half time. A last-minute goal saw us narrowly lose the match, a disappointing result but a good learning opportunity. The boys remain focused on improving for their next game.

Our Junior Girls played their first match together as a team and put in a fantastic performance against Lynwood SHS. Monique scored twice, once in each half, to give us a 2–0 lead. Although Lynwood pulled one back late in the game, our girls held on for a well-deserved 2–1 win. A great start to their SSWA campaign.

Week 4 promises to be another important one for the Specialised Football Program. On Monday, both our SSWA Junior Boys and Girls will travel to face South Coast in a double header. Then on Thursday, our Senior teams will compete in the ACC Football Championships Group Stage at Forrestfield. We wish all our teams the best as they continue to develop and represent the College.

Senior Basketball – ACC Finals Update

Our Senior Boys and Girls teams have shown incredible effort and commitment throughout their ACC campaign. After going undefeated in the One Day Carnival, both teams entered the elimination finals at Chisholm Catholic College last week.

The Senior Girls were dominant in their match, securing a strong 66–44 win. The Senior Boys battled hard in a high-intensity game against a tough Chisholm side and a very vocal home crowd. Despite a final buzzer three-pointer from Andre Dweh, they fell just short, losing by one point. Although their finals run came to an end, the boys showed great composure and should be proud of the level of basketball they displayed.

The girls progressed to face All Saints in Week 3. Missing several key players due to injuries and absences, they put up a strong fight but were defeated by 10 points, concluding their ACC campaign. Both teams will no doubt come back stronger next year with their sights set on the grand final stage.

Our Senior Boys and Girls continue their SSWA fixtures, with two games remaining for each team. We’d love to see your support at our next home games – Monday (Senior Boys) and Wednesday (Senior Girls) of Week 4, Tip-off at 3:30pm.

CONGRATULATIONS LEESHAR!

We’re proud to announce that Leeshar Tuialii made her NBL1 debut on Saturday against the Cockburn Cougars!

Leeshar is a standout graduate of our PBA Pathways program — a homegrown talent developed right here through our WABL system, designed to identify and nurture the future stars of the game.

St Norbert is cheering you on every step of the way!

Inter-House Cross Country

May 6 was all about grit, spirit, and some serious speed as our students hit the track for the annual Inter-House Cross Country! From the first burst off the line to the final sprint to the finish, the energy was electric and the competition fierce.

A huge congratulations to all our runners who represented their Houses with pride, passion, and perseverance.  Some students raced for the podium while others ran for the fun of it. The efforts of students (and staff) made the day an unforgettable celebration of athleticism and House spirit.
