eSmart Week – Keeping Our Students Safe Online

Monday, 30 March to Sunday, 5 April 2026

Dear Parents,

Next week, St Joseph’s will be taking part in eSmart Week, a time dedicated to helping students learn how to be safe, respectful and responsible when using technology.

With so much of our learning and socialising happening online, it’s important that students understand how to make smart choices in digital spaces. During the week, classes will be involved in age-appropriate activities and discussions focused on topics such as:

  • Online safety and protecting personal information
  • Being respectful and kind when communicating online
  • Recognising and responding to cyberbullying
  • Building positive digital habits

eSmart Week is part of a broader initiative developed by the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, which supports schools in creating safe and supportive online environments for young people. Click on the link to find out more.

How can families support themselves at home?

We encourage parents and carers to continue these conversations at home by:

  • Talking with your child about their online activities
  • Setting clear expectations for device use
  • Reminding them to be kind and respectful online
  • Encouraging them to speak up if they feel uncomfortable or unsafe

By working together, we can help our students become confident, capable and responsible digital citizens.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact the school.

Kind regards

Megan Barber
