Dear Families,
Catholic Education Week
Catholic Education Week was a joyful celebration of who we are and our rich history of faith, connection and hope for the future. Eleven of our student leaders attended mass and a concert in the Treasury Gardens on Friday. Celebrating the Patron Saint of our school, St Joseph was fitting in Catholic Education Week.
Congratulations to Dallas who was presented with a Highly Commended Award for his artwork of St Patrick at the MACS Creative Arts Exhibition. Congratulations Dallas.
St Joseph's Day
We had a wonderful day celebrating St Joseph on Thursday. Fr Angelo encouraged us to be like St Joseph in the way we care for each other, stand up for what we know is right and be gentle and kind. We celebrated that everyone is valued and belongs at St Joseph's school. Thank you to all the families who attended mass, joined us for the picnic and colour run at Sorrento Park. Your presence was greatly appreciated.
Student Action Team
Our 2026 Student Action Council met today. Their role is to act as the formal voice of the student population, advocating for their needs and fostering a positive school community. They represent students in decision-making, organise events, and promote leadership and engagement. The SAC representatives will be presented with their badges at the next assembly.
Learning Conferences
We will be conducting Learning Conferences this coming Wednesday 25th March. It is an opportunity to discuss students' growth and progress in learning throughout Term One and set goals for next term. We encourage students to attend to be a part of the conversation. Please check nMeet on the nForma app if you have not already made a time.
Open Afternoon
Parents are welcome to attend an Open Afternoon on Tuesday 31st March from 2:45pm. The afternoon will have a Writing focus. Come and see our wonderful writers and even write with us.
MACS Care
Melbourne Archdiocese has asked all schools to participate in the ‘11 Months, 11 Standards’ campaign, focusing on one Victorian Child Safe Standard each month. This staged approach supports us to meet our obligations and keep child safety front of mind throughout the year. The first Child Safe Standard 1, focuses on creating culturally safe environments for Aboriginal children and young people. We will share a newsletter article each month this year. Below is a link to the first article.
Lunch Orders
An nForma notice was sent earlier today with more details regarding Lunch Orders beginning next term.
State Government Staff Strike
You may be aware that employees in Victorian government schools are planning strike action tomorrow, 24th March. This will have no impact on our school and classes will continue as normal.
New School Community Members
We welcomed our new chickens today. They are getting used to their new home. We look forward to getting to know them and looking after them.
National eSmart Week
National eSmart Week is next week and is important because it unites schools and communities across Australia to promotecyber safety and responsible digital citizenship. We will be providing extra activities and lessons to educate young people on how to navigate the online world safely, reduce cyberbullying, and build a culture of respectful digital behavior.
Building Project Update
We are beginning to see the plumbing and electrical components being "roughed in.".
