St Joseph’s Day Celebration
What a wonderful day we shared as a school community as we celebrated St Joseph’s Day together last Thursday. The day began with Mass, where we gathered in prayer and gave thanks for the life and example of St Joseph. Our Year 1/2 students led the Mass beautifully, and they did a fabulous job helping to make the celebration so special. We were so proud of the way they participated with confidence, reverence and joy. It was a lovely way to begin the day as a whole school community, joined together in faith and celebration.
Throughout the day, students learnt more about the kind of person St Joseph was and the qualities he showed through the way he lived. They explored how he was caring, humble, faithful, patient, hardworking and full of quiet strength. These are such important qualities for our students to learn about, as they remind us that being gentle, kind and trustworthy are powerful ways to live and lead.
A special part of the day was seeing students work together across year levels in multi-age groups. As they learnt more about St Joseph and the meaning behind our house colours, there was a real sense of joy, connection and school spirit. Students shared ideas, enjoyed working with one another and deepened their understanding of what it means to belong to St Joseph’s. It was lovely to see our students so engaged and proud of the story and values that are at the heart of our school community.
Colour Fun Run
The fun continued in the afternoon with our much-anticipated Colour Fun Run, and what a fantastic way it was to celebrate together. There was laughter, excitement and colour everywhere as students ran the course with huge smiles on their faces. It was wonderful to see everyone joining in, cheering each other on and simply enjoying the moment. The Colour Fun Run brought so much energy and happiness to the day and was a real highlight for students and staff alike.
More than just a fun event, the Colour Fun Run was a beautiful celebration of togetherness, participation and community spirit. It was one of those joyful school moments that students will remember for a long time.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible parent and grandparent helpers, whose time, energy and support helped make the Colour Fun Run such a joyful and memorable event for our students. Your generosity, encouragement and willingness to help out were so deeply appreciated, and we are very grateful for the wonderful community spirit you brought to the day.
A very big thank-you to our Sorrento CFA for also assisting.
Holy Week Performance – All Welcome
Families are warmly invited to join us for our Holy Week Performance at 11.30am on our final day of Term One. This will be a very special whole-school gathering as we come together to reflect on the story of Holy Week and prepare our hearts for Easter. Through prayer, song and dramatisation, students will help bring this sacred story to life in a meaningful and thoughtful way.
Our Holy Week reenacatment is always a special part of the term, giving students the opportunity to share their learning and deepen their understanding of Jesus’ journey. We would love to welcome families and friends to join us for this important moment in our school faith life. Sharing these celebrations together helps strengthen the beautiful partnership between home, school and parish.
Pyjamas for Caritas
We are also looking forward to our Pyjamas for Caritas day, where students are invited to come to school in their pyjamas and bring along a gold coin donation on Friday 27th March. This is always a fun and much-loved event for our students, and it is made even more special by knowing that we are supporting an important cause. Caritas Australia works with communities around the world to help provide access to food, education, clean water and opportunities for a brighter future.
Days like this are a wonderful way for our students to learn that even small acts of kindness and generosity can make a big difference. By wearing their pyjamas and making a donation, students are helping others while also living out the values of compassion, service and justice. We thank our families for their ongoing support and generosity, and we know this will be another special day in our school community.
Catholic Education Week
This week we also celebrate Catholic Education Week, which is a wonderful opportunity to give thanks for the rich and vibrant life of our Catholic school. It is a time to celebrate all that makes Catholic education so special, the way faith, learning and community come together each day to support the growth of every child. At St Joseph’s, we are so proud to be part of a community where students are encouraged to grow in knowledge, kindness, confidence and faith.
Catholic Education Week is also a chance to recognise the many people who make our school such a special place — our students, staff, families and parish community. Together, we create a school environment where students feel known, valued and inspired to be their best. It is a joyful reminder of the strength of Catholic education and the many blessings of learning and growing together in faith.
