Grade 6

This term, our Grade 6 students have continued to engage in rich and meaningful learning across all areas.

In Literacy, we have been reading The Silver Donkey, with a strong focus on exploring the deeper meanings behind the stories within the story. Students have been developing their comprehension skills by thinking critically about themes, messages, and character perspectives.

In Writing, we have been learning about fables—examining their structure, morals, and key features. Students are now in the planning stages of writing their own fables, and we are excited to see their creativity come to life.

In Mathematics, students have recently completed their work on BODMAS, strengthening their ability to solve complex equations with confidence. We then moved into a focused week on Area and Perimeter, where students applied their knowledge to practical and real-world problems.

In SEL, students have been working through the Let’s Talk program, with a focus on how they can support and assist others in the yard. This has encouraged thoughtful discussions around empathy, responsibility, and being positive role models within our school community.

In Humanities, we continue to explore Australian History, building students’ understanding of significant events and their impact on our nation.

A highlight of the term has been our first Buddy Session with our Prep classes. It was wonderful to see our Grade 6 students step into leadership roles, showing care, patience, and enthusiasm as they connected with their younger buddies.

We are proud of the effort and maturity our Grade 6 students continue to demonstrate and look forward to another great term ahead!
