On Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th of September Indigenous artist Bayley Merindah - Gunya painted a beautiful mural at the entrance to the school on the wall of the Fallon Centre. The artwork was instigated through the VCE VM classes Community Projects. The classes researched, developed and presented a proposal to school leadership highlight the significance of this mural for the school community. The VCE VM classes have also been fundraising to cover the costs of the mural.

The mural depicts the journey of students from Year 7-12 through the six connecting circles. The 'C' shapes formed in different sizes and colours represents the diverse students at VSC. The circle on the right of the mural represents the whole school community. The semi-circle shape at the bottom right connects to Bunjil story lines as the creator of Wurundjeri country as well as representing mountains. The mountains connect to the three VSC houses (Hotham, Macedon and Stirling) and featured throughout are the house colours. Finally, the squiggling lines represent water as a source of life.

Following completion of the mural Bayley hosted a Q&A session with the VCE VM classes and with the schools Year 7-12 Student Leaders. The students were incredibly engaged and asked many thought provoking questions of Bayley on her personal journey as a First Nations person artists as well as wider questions on Indigenous culture, racism and cultural appropriation.
