Surviving Year 12 and Morning Tea for our Hindi speaking community

The past couple of weeks has seen an increase in students from Year 12 reach out to the Wellbeing team for support around Year 12 stress.  The final weeks of Year 12 bring a range of strong emotions from students in Year 12 as they get ready for exams, start to realise that their time with the school is coming to a close and as they complete various forms and applications that are required at this time of the year.  Students who have looked forward to finishing school all of sudden can be overcome with nervousness and anxiety about what life after school can look like and can experience an increase in anxiety and mental health challenges as a result.

I hope the “Surviving Year 12” edition gives you some tips, tricks and increased understanding about what your young people may be struggling with.

I would like to thank the members of our Hindi speaking community who attended our morning tea this week.  Aidan Message (Acting Principal) and myself had the pleasure of sitting with a number of parents to talk about our shared desire for VSC to be a place of education that is welcoming for all.  There was lively discussion about the parts of the school parents felt the school was doing well and areas for improvement as well as chance for parents to ask any questions of us about how the school is working that was of interest.  Next term we look forward to meeting with parents of our Mandarin and Cantonese speaking communities.  For those interested in attending please register your interest via the attached form
