Year 7 Orientation Day

On Tuesday December 9th, Thornbury High School hosted the 2026 Year 7 cohort for their Grade 6 Orientation Day. Thornbury High has 9 new classes of Year 7’s starting in 2026, joining our community from 45 different primary schools across the country.
The day started off at 8:50am, with students filing into the school Auditorium for their first ever Secondary School assembly. Acting Principal Ryan Millar addressed the Year level before they all found out their 2026 class, and the all important list of classmates.
Students then headed off around the school with their new class - completing various lessons mimicking a school timetable. They participated in Phys Ed lessons, Performing Arts, Cooking, Arts and even a school wide Orienteering session.
Accompanying the students throughout the day were their 2026 Peer Support leaders. These students will be Year 10’s next year and have undergone a selection process and training and will be linked with their selected class on multiple occasions in 2026.
We hope that all our Grade 6 students enjoyed their first full taste of Thornbury High School life and we can't wait for them to join us all officially in 2026.
Have a lovely holidays everyone.
