SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

Hello everyone!

Sustainability Learning in Class

This year we are lucky to have Sustainability Specialist lessons in our classes, with all classes rotating through the year. Year 1/2s have been learning about little actions we can take to help the Earth and making their own personal pledges to care for the environment.

We also took a close up look at the worms in our worm farm, and learned about why they are so important for making healthy soil. We learned about foods that worms do and don’t like to eat so that we can put the right things in our class compost buckets. Recently we added another 1000 worms! Some were just tiny babies and some tiny white eggs. The worms will eat our food scraps and make our soil rich and ready to grow delicious vegetables and beautiful flowers.

Gardening Club Gardening Club continues to offer a nurturing, safe space for students who may feel anxious on the yard, those struggling with friendships as well as those who just love to grow things! We have been enjoying planting flowers and silver beet but the possums have feasted on these so we need to replace!

News from the Veggie Patch and Ms Sally

It’s all happening down in the veggie patches! Zucchinis aand tomatoes are ripening and are ready to be harvested, which the students are enjoying immensely! We have two baby watermelons (hoping they will make it to maturity!) and sweetcorn is nearly ready. The students are so enjoying seeing the fruits of their labours. Our new watering system is making sure we can get a bumper crop - thank you Mr Rodrigues. It won’t be long until we start planting our winter crop, ready for our annual Brocolli Festival!

Trinity Trash Transformers - please bring us your 10 cent cans, bottles and juice boxes

The Trinity Trash Transformers project came out of the Sustainability Leaders in Education conference that our students attended mid 2025. They are a team of Year 5/6 students, who organise, promote and collect 10 cent recyclable bottles to raise money for Trinity.  Please continue bringing in your empty cans and eligible bottles for us to recycle and raise money for our school. Well done to the TTT team,

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
