Reef and Rainforest Trip 2026

In the last week of term 2, 72 students and 9 teachers set off on the annual Reef and Rainforest Trip to Cairns in Far North Queensland.
We engaged with marine life poison researchers and insect experts at various James Cook University campuses. We all got to experience being marine biologists for a day on the outer reef and went snorkeling with Green sea turtles while completing a coral watch survey at Fitzroy Island. We engaged with local Kuku Yalandji people (Indigenous) people of Mossman and engaged in wonderful hunting and gathering activities and nature walks, including crab and damper.
The students and staff had lots of fun swimming every day, walking around Cairns and experiencing two of the most spectacular world heritage listed sites.
