Greater Dandenong Schools Sustainability Summit

On Thursday 7th May, the Year 5 Environmental leaders attended Springvale Town Hall representing Athol Road Primary School at the Greater Dandenong Schools Sustainability Summit which was also attended by 8 other schools from Greater Dandenong.

Students networked with other students from the different schools and worked on ideas that could help to improve sustainability initiatives for the future.

Staff from CERES Environmental Park in Brunswick hosted the event where they ran a variety of workshops on recycling, food production and biodiversity. They also guided each school group to brainstorm an initiative to hopefully undertake back at our own schools to help improve an area of either energy use, water use, waste and recycling or biodiversity.

All of our students positively engaged in all aspects of the summit and came back to school with an increased enthusiasm to make a difference.
