Out of School Hours Care is available for all working families at Athol Road Primary School. It runs every afternoon from 3:30pm to 6:00pm and provides a creative and engaging program filled with a variety of activities.
This term, children have enjoyed a range of craft experiences, including making Mother’s Day cards to celebrate and show appreciation for special people in their lives. There have also been many opportunities for imaginative play and collaboration through Lego construction, building blocks, drawing and colouring, reading, and group games such as ball games in the hall.
Children are supported in their learning and social development through positive peer interactions, including older children assisting younger students with homework in a supportive and inclusive environment.
We begin each session with an Acknowledgement of Country, reinforcing respect for First Nations peoples and culture as part of our daily routine.
Food preparation is also a shared and valued part of the program, with children enjoying freshly prepared snacks such as toasted sandwiches and pasta, served alongside fruit to support healthy choices.
When weather does not allow for outdoor play, children continue to engage in meaningful indoor activities across the hall and learning spaces. On suitable days, outdoor play is enjoyed in a variety of areas including the Gaga pit, sandpit, oval, and basketball court.
To conclude the day, calming activities such as guided meditation are offered to help children relax, regulate, and transition smoothly before heading home.
Overall, the program provides a balanced mix of creativity, active play, social connection, and wellbeing experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
