Education Week - Showcase your School
Education Week is an annual celebration of public education in Victoria.
In 2026, Victoria celebrates Education Week from Monday 18 May to Friday 22 May.
The theme of 2026 Education Weekis Showcase your school, encouraging school communities to celebrate what’s great about their school.
This year, due to the Year 5/6 Sovereign Hill Camp scheduled during Education Week, Athol Road PS will be having a special SHOWCASE session on Twilight School Day - Thursday 4th June. More information about this Showcase Session will be sent to all families closer to the time!
Year 1 Numeracy Check Pilot
Athol Road Primary School will be participating in a trial of the Year 1 Numeracy Check from Monday 18 May to Friday 29 May.
This is an exciting opportunity for our school to be involved in an important initiative that focuses on strengthening early numeracy skills and supporting student learning from the very beginning of their schooling journey.
The Year 1 Numeracy Check is designed to provide early screening data and practical reports that help teachers identify students who may be at risk of experiencing difficulties with mathematics. From 2027, this check will become a mandatory assessment for all Victorian government primary schools.
The Numeracy Check is a short, simple screening tool that:
focuses on key numeracy skills that support successful mathematics learning
provides insights into students’ accuracy and fluency
The information gathered will support teachers in identifying students who may benefit from additional support, ensuring every child has the best possible start in their mathematics learning.
