2026 Australian National Band Championships - VUSC Honours Band

Over the recent Easter break, 45 staff and students travelled to Brisbane to compete in the Australian National Band Championships. The months of hard work before school, on weekends and over the holidays paid off with the band being awarded Australian Champion Band in their division. 

We also had two small ensembles, and eight amazing students compete as soloists, with Jacob Olivario (Y10) placing 2nd in the Junior Tuba and Raziel Feliciano (Y9) also placing 2nd on the Alto Saxophone.

The students gave two wonderful concerts at Manly State High School, listened to adult bands and soloists and finished the trip off with a fantastic day at Movie World.

Over the six days, the respect, attitude and general behaviour shown by all students was an absolute credit to the school and their families. Thank you to Ms Morris, Ms Burger and Mr Hodge for accompanying the band on this rewarding tour.

We invite our school community to hear our amazing small ensembles and soloists of the Senior School Music class as they present the Senior Music Soiree - Thursday 14th May at 5pm in Building H, Cairnlea Campus.
