School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

May SWPBS Focus: Lock In

Dear Families and Students,

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful and organised school environment, the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Team (SWPBS) would like to highlight the importance of positive locker behaviour within our school community.

Lockers are a shared space that all students rely on each day. Using them responsibly helps ensure that everyone can access their belongings efficiently and feel comfortable in shared spaces.

As such, the SWPBS Team is proud to announce the start of a school-wide campaign called ‘Lock In’, which will run throughout May to promote positive locker behaviours.

Positive locker behaviour includes simple but meaningful actions, such as:

  • Closing lockers properly
  • Ensuring that items are stored neatly inside lockers
  • Showing patience and waiting for your turn to access your locker
  • Not pushing and shoving fellow students around the locker bay
  • No sharing lockers or storing other students’ belongings in your locker

As part of the ‘Lock In’ campaign, teachers and coordinators on yard duty will keep an eye out for students demonstrating these positive behaviours. These students will receive a 'You've Been Spotted' card, which can be taken to the coordinators' office and entered into the weekly assembly draw for a chance to win a canteen voucher. Furthermore, on certain weeks, homegroup teachers may conduct random locker checks with their homegroup class. The students with the cleanest and most organized lockers will receive an award for their diligence.

We hope that families can help to reinforce these locker expectations to their children to help ensure that our shared spaces remain welcoming and functional for everyone. Thank you to our students and families for your ongoing support in making VUSC a safe and respectful school community!
