Senior School

As we move into the second half of the year, it has been particularly pleasing to witness the significant growth in the Year 12 experience across our Senior School. A key highlight has been the establishment and consistent use of a dedicated Year 12 space — an environment the students can genuinely call their own. This space has quickly become more than just a study area; it is a hub for collaboration, reflection, and connection. It has fostered a stronger sense of belonging and ownership, allowing students to work independently while still feeling supported by their peers.
This physical environment has complemented what is already a rich and collaborative culture between students and staff. Our Year 12 teachers continue to demonstrate outstanding commitment to nurturing positive and supportive relationships. These connections are fundamental to student success, and it has been evident that students feel comfortable seeking guidance, asking questions, and engaging deeply in their learning. The mutual respect between teachers and students has helped create a focused yet encouraging atmosphere that empowers students to strive for their personal best.
Equally encouraging has been the visible strengthening of peer connections within the cohort. Students are increasingly working together, sharing ideas, and offering one another encouragement during what is a demanding year. This sense of camaraderie and collective responsibility has created a positive culture in which achievement is celebrated, and challenges are faced together. It has been inspiring to see students supporting one another both academically and emotionally.
As we approach Term 3, there has been a clear shift in mindset, with students demonstrating increasing academic rigour as they prepare for the “home stretch.” Classrooms have been characterised by purposeful learning, strong engagement, and a growing awareness of the expectations associated with the completion of Unit 4 coursework. Students are beginning to recognise the proximity of the VCE examination period, and with this comes a heightened sense of focus, determination, and, understandably, a mix of emotions.
Term 3 is undoubtedly a momentous period in the Year 12 journey. It marks the culmination of much of their coursework and signals the beginning of the final phase leading into VCE examinations. Alongside these academic milestones, students will also have the opportunity to celebrate their journey at the Year 12 Formal. This event will provide a valuable chance for students to reflect on how far they have come, strengthen social connections, and enjoy a memorable occasion with their peers.
We would like to acknowledge the exceptional work of Year 12 Leader, Brad Campbell, whose continued guidance, care, and encouragement have played a vital role in supporting the cohort. Brad’s ability to connect with students, motivate them through challenges, and maintain a strong focus on wellbeing has been instrumental in shaping a positive and productive Year 12 culture.
We also recognise that this time of year brings a wide range of emotions for students — excitement, pressure, anticipation, and sometimes uncertainty. As a college, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting every student through this period. A range of academic and wellbeing supports will continue to be available to ensure each student is equipped not only to achieve success in their studies but also to develop confidence and clarity as they consider their future pathways.
Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated teachers, education support staff, students, and families. Your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership have contributed significantly to the strong progress we have seen so far. As we enter what promises to be a significant and transformative Term 3, we look forward to continuing this journey together and supporting our Year 12 students every step of the way.
