College Captains' Report

We have officially reached the end of semester 1, and we would like to reflect on a few achievements.
A major change that has occurred for the school this year is the transition to a sub-school model, with the aim to achieve collectiveness and connection and we believe this result has become obvious. Year 12's have been given their own building creating an environment that is interconnected, helping us focus in school, expand friendship groups and really make the most of this final year. To move forward we have begun planning our 2026 formal to really celebrate this achievement.
As captains we were given the opportunity to speak at ANZAC day on the 25th of April at Castlemaine Victory Park, and Sorry Day on 26th of May at the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens. We are all very grateful for the chance to talk at significant events such as these, and the experiences they provided us with. Speaking at these events was a great opportunity to represent our school and our values, show our respect and reflect on deeply rooted issues and events in Australian society, and ultimately were a great learning experience for us all.
We held our first school athletics carnival in 5 years, and it was a major success! Events ran for all age groups and as a result, we had many longstanding school records broken by participants. The school spirit was evident throughout the day, with cheering and support from houses, and many fun dress ups. It was a great start to the return of the whole school carnival, and we can't wait to see this momentum and house spirit continue to build in the next few years. Our awards for house spirit and best costume were awarded in our last term 2 assembly, to celebrate the achievements and dedication of the participants at the athletics carnival.
In regards to the remainder of the semester and the transition into semester two we would like to formally announce and expand on our House Branding Art Competition, this will work alongside our new whole school athletics carnival that will continue to expand in years to come. We would love to give students the chance to decide what their house mascot and design is, so we have! This gives students complete say over their house branding, a design which they can construct over the holidays and into term 3, we will then host the competition process and land on a final outcome, which will be used as the logo for the future!
