Sports Report

Term 2 has been an action-packed and exciting time of year for our Sports Program, with students embracing a wide range of team and individual sporting opportunities. From netball, Australian Rules football, volleyball and soccer to cross country, cricket, tennis and athletics, our students showcased their talent, determination and sportsmanship across many events.

Students began their sporting journeys in the Sandhurst competition, with successful competitors advancing to the Loddon Mallee Region competition and, for some, all the way to the State Finals. Throughout each stage of competition, our athletes represented the school with aspiration, respect and excellence, achieving outstanding results and creating memorable moments along the way.

We are incredibly proud of the efforts and achievements of all students who participated. Outlined below are just a few of the highlights and successes from an impressive Term 2 of sport.

Cross Country

Some of CSC’s outstanding sporting achievements were showcased in the Cross-Country competition, where students demonstrated endurance, determination and resilience. Competing against strong fields of runners, many students achieved inspiring individual results, while our teams worked together to secure excellent overall performances. Their commitment to training, perseverance and willingness to push themselves to their limits were reflected in the success they achieved at both the individual and team levels.

Soccer

We enjoyed some outstanding performances in the Sandhurst Soccer competitions this term. Our Senior Girls team showcased excellent skill, determination and teamwork throughout the tournament, competing strongly but ultimately falling to a powerful Bendigo Senior Secondary side in a hard-fought match. Meanwhile, our Year 7/8 Girls team, coached by Lois Springate, delivered a dominant performance, winning every game in convincing fashion to secure their place at the Loddon Mallee Regional Finals in Moama this July. We wish them the very best as they continue their impressive campaign.

Netball

CSC was proudly represented by a number of teams across all year levels in the Sandhurst Competition during Term 2. Among the standout performers were our Senior Girls and Senior Boys teams, who both enjoyed impressive success. The Senior Girls competed strongly throughout a highly competitive tournament, finishing in an excellent third place. The Senior Boys produced a dominant performance, claiming the overall championship and earning the opportunity to represent CSC at the Loddon Mallee Regional competition in Term 3. We congratulate both teams on their outstanding achievements and wish the boys every success at the next level of competition.

CSC Athletics Carnival

For the first time since COVID, all year levels came together for our Athletics Carnival at the Lar Birpa Athletics Complex in Bendigo. The day was a tremendous success, with enthusiastic students and staff proudly dressed in their house colours, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Students of all ages embraced the opportunity to compete in a wide range of track and field events, earning valuable points for their houses and showcasing outstanding sportsmanship, determination and school spirit. Winners of events will have the opportunity to represent CSC at the Sandhurst Athletics Competition next term. Excitement is already building as we await the announcement of our Year Level Champions and House Champions at assembly.

Term 2 has been another highly successful season for CSC sport. Beyond the impressive results and achievements, it has been wonderful to see so many students embracing opportunities to challenge themselves, represent their school and support one another through competition. We thank all students, staff, coaches and families for their contribution to our sporting program and look forward to even more success and participation in Term 3.
