Middle School

Middle School has enjoyed a highly successful term marked by strong engagement and meaningful learning opportunities, led by our Year Level Leaders Courtney Dodlen, Rob Flynn, Kath Goodes and Sub-school leader Sophie Tanner. Students experienced live theatre with The Seagull at the Phee Broadway Theatre and a sausage sizzle to celebrate the end of Term 2. Our first whole‑school Athletics Carnival in five years was a standout highlight, showcasing enthusiasm and community spirit.

Our Year 9 students were involved in a fantastic two day civics project - Un Assembly. We saw so many of our Year 9 students becoming active, capable and responsible citizens by engaging directly with democratic processes. They had the chance to meet with Speaker of the Victoria Legislative Assembly Maree Edwards and Mt Alexander Shire Mayor Toby Heydon!

This term has also seen six our Year 9 students at the Snowy River Campus of the School for Student Leadership. Pema, Kenzie, Arlo, Zach, Saskia and Frankie have lived, and learnt, at the remote campus in Marlo for eight weeks. By all accounts it has been an incredible experience for them – with overnight hiking, canoeing and surfing – along with an amazing program where they have developed and grown as young adults and leaders. We look forward to welcoming them back in Term 3 and hearing all about their adventures!

In terms of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support rewards, students achieved 7,392 points in Semester One. Middle School students have consistently demonstrated our school values and enjoyed well‑earned rewards including hot chips, canteen and pizza vouchers, and the spinning wheel.

Looking ahead, Term 3 will start acknowledging the end of NAIDOC week and a smoking ceremony with Uncle Rick. Planning is underway for a Year 9 excursion and their Year 10 subject selections. Our students will also have the opportunity to get involved with R U OK Day and Wear it Purple Day. A jam-packed Term 3 for Middle School!
