Safety & School Procedures: Keeping Our School Safe and Organised

Welcome to another fabulous edition of the Admin Corner! 

At Glen Waverley Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and the wider school community are always our top priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment, both within the school grounds and in the surrounding areas.

As part of this commitment, we take necessary steps to manage traffic safety during drop-off and pick-up times. Staff are stationed at key points around the school and assist crossing supervisors to ensure everyone’s safety.

A few important reminders to help us keep our school safe:

• To protect our community, please observe the following traffic rules:
  • No stopping or double parking on High Street Road.
  • No entering or parking in the main school driveway or staff carpark next to McDonald’s.
  • Do not stop or double park in the McDonald’s driveway or use their carpark.
  • Refrain from entering or parking in the lower staff carpark on High Street Road.
  • Please do not double park in Brent Street or High Street Road and avoid letting children out of cars in these areas.

These measures help us keep children, families, and staff safe while maintaining smooth traffic flow.

Please also remember:

• There is one official entry into the school grounds, which includes the turning circle on Brent Street. We ask that you enter the carpark slowly and carefully. Children are then ushered safely into cars by a supervising teacher on yard duty.
• This area is a No Standing Anytime zone. Observing this rule helps reduce congestion and prevents accidents.
• For parents walking their children to school, if you cross High Street Road from the Mountain View carpark or The Glen Shopping Centre, please use the traffic lights supervised by a crossing supervisor, as required by road laws. When walking through carparks, please use the marked pedestrian walkways whenever possible.
