Performing Arts News

Welcome back to all our students and families! It has been great to get back into Performing Arts this term and turn our attention to the exciting world of dance. This term we have had a timetable change and now our classes will align with the other spoecilaist classes on offer. Please, if you are unsure of what day your child’s classes are on, refer to the timetable below.  

Storytelling Through Dance! 

For all students from Prep to Year 6, this term we will be learning about the discipline of dance by exploring how movement is used to communicate ideas, stories, and emotions. Our aim is to develop skills such as body awareness, coordination, balance, rhythm, and spatial awareness, while learning to move with control and confidence.  

In addition to this, some families may already be rocking out to our latest favourite, Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil. This song has been chosen as Reconciliation Australia’s anthem for their 2026 theme All In which is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. 

Students have been eager to hear about the themes and influence of the Oil’s 1987 classic and learn more about the sotrytelling and connection this song still makes to so many today. If you would like to know a little more, please click on the link below.

Finally, for students from Years 3 – 6 there will be Drama Club on Wednesday lunchtimes for any budding actors and performers who would like to learn some new drama skills. Our goal is to offer students a fun and relaxed space to explore acting, improvisation, and creative expression. Students can build confidence, teamwork, and communication skills while playing drama games and creating characters and stories. All students from Year 3 – 6 are welcome!
