French

This Term, all grades are playing games to practise their oral skills and memorise the spelling of their main vocabulary topics. In addition, some students are learning a song that they will present at assembly at the end of  term. Here is a selection of games and videos that we are using:

  • Prep:

The prep students are rehearsing a song to learn how to count to 10.

  • Grades 1/2:

In Grades 1/2, the students played the Game of Goose to practise the spelling of numbers 1 to 20. They also participated in a role play, pretending to buy food at a grocery shop. They took turns, being either the buyer or the shop keeper. They are now discovering the life of Louis Braille, who invented a revolutionary tactile reading and writing system for the visually impaired.

  • Grades 3/4:

In Grades 3/4, the students played a card game to memorise family members and to practise asking for cards, using the expression, 'Dans la famille..., je voudrais...' (In family ..., I would like...). They are now learning a song.

  • Grades 5/6:

In Grades 5/6, the students have learned a range of questions to play the game 'Guess Who?' in French. This was a fun way to memorise the main vocabulary topic, body parts, and to use expressions describing a person's appearrance.
