Division Track and Field

Well done to all of our five competitors who made it to Division Track and Field - what an amazing achievement all on it's own! All of your persistance and hard work has taken you to this level and you should all be proud of yourselves, because we sure are. A special thank you to parents who took the time out of their day to make sure their athletes could participate in this competition!

A huge good luck to Laker (long jump) and Xander (1500m) for their next competition level - Regional Track and Field! We can't wait to hear about it. 

Physical Education - Miss Atherton

PMP - Our grades Prep to 2 have been working hard on their fortnightly PMP days, working through circuits that focus on balance, direction, and a wide range of body movements. Thank you to those parents who have been able to join in on this learning - your contribution is invaluable!

Striking with hands - Our Prep to 2 students have been working on striking with their hands in P.E, focusing on hitting a ball with control to a target. Some have made cool connections to other sports where they could use this skill, how amazing. 

Volleyball - Grades 3/4 finished their first Volleyball unit this week, and what a huge amount of progress is seen in thesse last few lessons! We are all digging, setting, and spiking with more and more control each week. We finished this unit with a modified game of Volleyball, a version close to Newcomb with the option to challenge yourself and use our learned skills. 

Volleyball - Grades 5/6 have also finished up their Volleyball unit, with a bit of fun competition during our 5/6 Tournament in week nine! Another SEPEP unit done, another huge set of skills learned while gaining a love for a new sport. Yay!

The Arts - Mrs Anstis 

This term has been busy, productive and very creative.  It has been exciting to watch how much growth students across all year levels have made as they have shown great resilience when learning and practicing new skills. I look forward to another fun, messy and colourful term after the break.

Students in junior grades have learnt body percussion, rythm and beat in Music. They have expressed their favourite songs and been able to explain why they are special to them. Students also experimented by making new lyrics to the song 'Cows in the Kitchen.'

Visual Arts for the junior classes has included various forms of weaving, including paper weaving, rainbow weaving, God's Eye creations and nature weaving. Students have enjoyed improving on their knot tying skills and been willing to teach others when they have mastered it themselves.  

Media Arts has been a steep learning curve for everyone, but we have persevered and the results are outstanding! Grades 3/4 students have filmed themselves being interviewed and then added B-Roll video, audio, text and other elements to enhance their work. Students in Grades 5/6 have created fantastic short videos using stop animation as their base project and then edited their work using technology.
