Prep/One Guy and Thomas

Over the past two weeks in Literacy, we have been busy revising all letter combinations and their most common sounds. We have practised writing sentences and editing our sentences to ensure they begin with uppercase letters, have spaces between the words, uppercase letters for the name of people and places, ending punctuation and they make sense.  Ask your child to write a sentence with all these elements and see if they can edit their work with a different coloured pencil. 

In Numeracy we have been revising subtraction and we also revised using money and subtracting money amounts to show students how much change they should get when they pay for items. This week we learnt about collecting data, reading the data and answering questions while looking at the data. We used tally marks to record some collected data and made graphs to show our findings. We also graphed our favourite footy teams. Of course Carlton was the MOST favourite! Then we used our knowledge on My Numeracy activities targeted to our personal learning needs. 

In Health we enjoyed learning about Are You Okay Day and how to ask people if they are okay. 

In Auslan we learnt how to sign family members and revised all learnt material from Term 3.

In History we learnt about schooling long ago. We were very surprised that schooling was optional and that long ago, girls did not attend school. We also learnt that there used to be one classroom with Preps to Grade 6 in the one room. A female teacher was not allowed to get married or have children while she taught and some teachers slept at the school. Wow! How things have changed!

In Digital Technologies we revised our model of a digital system, by generating, communicating and evaluating our design ideas then we revised what we have learnt in Term 3.

The Preps loved their Teddy Bears Picnic with some Kindergarten students on Wednesday. We ate lunch together, played together and made teddy masks, puppets and coloured in teddies, while getting to know each other. 

Footy Colours Day was so much fun to end the term. Can you guess who Mrs Guy barracks for?

Congratulations to Daxton for reading over 200 nights so far this year! He chose a prize from Mrs Dowsett's prize box. 

We wish our families a beautiful holiday time with their gorgeous children. Spend time together, be safe and enjoy each other's company. See you again in Term Four.

Wow, what a busy Term 3!! Our students in Grade 1 and 2 have learnt so much and enjoyed lots of fun experiences this term!! We cannot believe that when we return, we will be in Term 4. ✏️✏️✏️

Literacy 📚📚

All Things Butterflies 🐛🐛🐛 🦋🦋🦋

We have been learning about Butterflies over the last couple of weeks at School, but what has made it even more fun is that we have looked at so many different styles of writing. We researched our butterflies in the Library, we did a narrative writing piece about a butterfly, we have looked at the life cycle of the butterfly and finished off with information reports!! 

Maths ➕➖🟰

Students practised their money skills by buying things from the shop. We had 2 Groups. Group A had to be the shopkeepers and Group B the buyers. The buyers were allowed to buy 3 items, and then they had to pay for their items. The shopkeepers had to make sure they gave back the correct change to the buyers. They then swapped over roles; the students had so much fun using the play money and buying things. 💰💰💰

200 Nights of Reading!

Mrs Murphy and Mrs Monson wish all our Wonderful students and families a wonderful break. Students have had a very busy Term 3, and we are super proud of all their achievements this term.

School returns on Monday 5th October.

Friday the 16th of October all Prep/ One students are welcome to stay at school for a fun afternoon of games and dinner. At 3.30 pm we will be eating afternoon tea together. We will then rotate through 4 different stations with fun activities. We will then eat dinner together and say bye-bye at 5.30 pm. More details to follow on Compass shortly.
