Wellbeing and Inclusion Update
The World World Cup is coming
We are proud to announce that the inaugural Wollert World Cup will officially commence this Friday with our opening match!
The Wollert World Cup will run throughout Term 4, bringing together 10 teams made up of students from Grades 4–6. The majority of players are from Grades 5 and 6, with a number of Grade 4 students also joining the competition.
All matches will be played during lunchtime, with students from all year levels welcome to come along, watch the games and support the teams.
More Than Just a Competition
The Wollert World Cup is about much more than winning football matches. The tournament has been created to promote positive sportsmanship, teamwork, respect and inclusion, while providing students with an opportunity to build friendships and develop leadership and interpersonal skills.
We want the Wollert World Cup to help build upon the positive culture we are creating at Wollert Primary School, where students encourage one another, celebrate effort and achievement, and demonstrate our school values both on and off the field.
Players will be expected to:
- 🤝 Show respect towards teammates, opponents and referees.
- 👏 Encourage and support others.
- ⚽ Demonstrate fair play and positive sportsmanship.
- 💪 Celebrate effort, improvement and teamwork.
🌟 Represent Wollert Primary School and our values positively.
We encourage all students who come along to watch to cheer positively, show respect and support all teams, helping to make the Wollert World Cup an enjoyable experience for everyone.
The Road to the Final
With 10 teams competing, the tournament will progress through Term 4 before culminating in the Wollert World Cup Finals.
Stand by for more information regarding the finals format, fixtures and championship match later next term.
We look forward to seeing our students get behind their teams, enjoy the competition and, most importantly, showing what positive sportsmanship looks like at Wollert Primary School!
