Farewell

At the end of this term, we farewell Tanya Watts, who has taught in the Flexible Learning Option for students across the North Central region. Tanya has been an amazing teacher and mentor to students who have not always felt connected to school, and who have often not had the confidence, support or circumstances to experience success at school. Through her caring, persistent and genuine belief in every student, Tanya has created opportunities for young people to stay in education, and in many cases transition successfully into the workplace. Tanya’s contribution to FLO and to the lives of the many students she has supported has been significant, and she leaves with our sincere thanks and appreciation. We wish Tanya all the very best.

School Closures – Maintenance during holidays

Asbestos Removal

The Department of Education be undertaking asbestos removal works at the Charlton College in the Secondary Building on Wednesday 23rd September and Thursday 24th September. Asbestos-containing materials will be removed from the school grounds in strict accordance with the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 and environmental Regulations. We will be working closely with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), the responsible body for asbestos removal and remediation works within the department, to ensure disruption to students and staff is minimal.

Work will be undertaken by a licensed asbestos removalist engaged by the department. As a further precaution, an Occupational Hygienist will monitor air quality during applicable removal works and must issue a clearance certificate before any person can re-occupy the area. As a precaution, it is requested that parents and carers ensure that children are not on the school grounds between 23rd September and the 24th September. I appreciate your cooperation and patience during this process.

Pest Spraying

On Monday 28th September, termite treatment and pest spraying will be undertaken at around the school site. As a precaution, it is requested that parents and carers ensure that children are not on the school grounds on Monday 28th September. I appreciate your cooperation and patience during this process.

Look how full our gumball machine is! As of yesterday, we had 843 acknowledgements for positive behaviours this term.
