Year 7 Instrumental Music Evening

The Eltham High School’s Instrumental Music Program provides expert instruction in a wide variety of instruments, as well as outstanding opportunities for skill development in an extensive ensemble program. The Instrumental Program caters for all woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments.

The Year 7 Instrumental Music Evening will take place on Wednesday, 7 February 2024.

The evening will start at 6:00pm in the Nalleijerring Performance Centre at Eltham High School.

We will start with a performance from our Symphonic Band and Chamber Strings, followed by a hands-on opportunity for the students to try the instruments that they are interested in. Our Instrumental Music Staff will assist, observe and assess the students during this session. Our staff will ensure that all instruments are cleaned and sanitised for each trial.

An outline of the Music Program will be presented, including information on purchasing instruments, fees and lesson structure. Staff will also be available to answer any questions you might have about your child’s involvement in our Instrumental Music Program.

If your child is interested in joining our Music Program please attend the night. If your child did not sit the Timbre Test that does not matter, if you are interested please come along.

If your child did sit the Timbre Test please remember to bring the results sheet with you.

If you have any questions about the Instrumental Music process, please contact the Music Office on 9430 5127 or via email at jane.nicholson@education.vic.gov.au

We look forward to seeing you on the night!

Friends of Music 2024 Annual General Meeting

The Friends of Music Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 26 February, 7.00pm-8.00pm, in the school staff room.

New members are most welcome.

Friends of Music is a group of parents with children in the instrumental and choral programs at Eltham High School. FOM assists with organisation of music related events, coordinating volunteers for stage management, ticketing, ushers and other activities. Concert tickets and raffles, and other events organised by FOM through the year are used to fund the purchase of instruments, music, equipment, and guest artists.

The Friends of Music committee meets on Monday nights, at the school or via Zoom, about once a month through the year. We organise two mid-year concerts in May, two Celebration concerts in September and a Waratah flower fundraiser in October. We also plan to organise a social activity or two during the year.

If you have any questions about the Friends of Music please contact Jane Nicholson at the Music Office on 9430 5127 or by email at jane.nicholson@education.vic.gov.au
