Year 9 Charnwood Camp

Heatherwood's Year 9 students recently swapped the classroom for the great outdoors, spending three action packed nights at Charnwood with AusCamp. Nestled in a gorgeous state forest with a creek winding through the grounds, the camp made for a stunning backdrop, with kangaroos and wombats roaming around the beautiful 20 acre property.

The activity list kept everyone busy from morning to night: mountain biking, archery, bushwalking, volleyball, the flying fox and wood chopping all featured, alongside a visit to feed the resident livestock. Over in the Maker's Shed, students tried their hand at baking their own damper by the fire. The energy and enthusiasm students brought to each activity made it clear just how much the students were embracing everything Charnwood had to offer.

The undoubted highlight, though, was the day trip to Mount Buller. Snow fell heavily as students hit the slopes for tobogganing, before things descended into a wild snowball war. It was a huge day out, but loads of fun, and one that plenty of students will be talking about for a while.

Add in fantastic meals throughout and a genuinely brilliant camp atmosphere, it's easy to see why this camp is always a highlight of the Year 9 calendar. A big thank you to the staff who made the camp possible, and to our wonderful Year 9 students, whose enthusiasm and great attitude made it such a memorable few days for everyone involved.
