VPC News

It has been another busy term so far for our VPC students, with plenty of learning happening both in and out of the classroom. Students have been involved in practical training, community activities, pathway planning and a range of hands-on projects.

In Literacy, we are continuing our work with persuasive texts and are now moving into annotating texts, with students learning how to identify and highlight important information, persuasive techniques and key ideas.

In Numeracy, students have been delving into personal health data, exploring how numbers and measurements can tell us about our health. We have looked at measures such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate and body temperature. Students have been investigating healthy ranges and learning how data can vary depending on factors such as body type, fitness, age and gender.

In Work Related Skills (WRS) and Personal Development Skills (PDS), students have been getting themselves work-ready and considering their next steps. Chris, our pathways coordinator, spoke with students about TAFE, employment and other opportunities available to them. As part of WRS, students completed a one-day bar and waiting course. They developed hospitality skills, including carrying plates, understanding different menu types, taking customer orders, folding napkins and preparing mocktails. Students are looking forward to our upcoming Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course, which will provide them with another opportunity to develop practical skills and gain a valuable qualification for future employment.

Planning for 2027 is already underway. Some of our students attended the Uni Campus Information Night and have now completed their course selections as they prepare to transition next year. 

Wednesday Projects – Lots Happening!

Veggie Garden Group

Students have weeded and prepared the greenhouse and started to plant seeds. With the weather beginning to warm up, we are looking forward to seeing a range of herbs and vegetables growing. Students have been working on a variety of projects relating to the garden, including designing and creating laser-cut vegetable garden signs, developing ideas for packaging and labelling fresh herb bunches, and investigating different pest-control methods.

FLO Tradies!

Hello, I’m a student from LVFLO and I help work around on the school yard. At the moment my group and I are working on the garden at the front of the school which is pretty fun. It’s every Wednesday and we get to go to Coles and pick our own snacks.

Op Shop

I go to the Salvo’s Op Shop on a Wednesday for work experience. I put clothing out on the racks and look at the stuff for sale. I give some valuable things to the people who work in the Op Shop so that they can put it online.
