Captains Corner

Term One 2024

Elijah - Last week the Grade Sixes participated in Interschool Sport. For the people who don’t know, Interschool Sport is an event where different schools in the area meet to have a sports competition. The sports that the Grade Sixes  played were Cricket, Basketball, Rounders, Softball and Tennis. This year the sport I played was Cricket. I enjoyed playing but sadly we only won one match out of three. I was happy, encouraging my friends, getting points and just talking with my team. I can’t wait to go to Interschool Sports next time, hopefully we can win too.

Chloe - Hello everyone, I am really excited to fill you in on what all the Level 6’s did last Thursday! Last Thursday the whole Level 6 went to their destinations to compete their sport against other schools! All sports trained very hard before the big day! I was on the tennis team with one of my best friends Florence and other level six students. We went to the Doncaster Tennis Club to compete against the other schools. Some of the schools we competed against were; St Gregory the Great Catholic School, Donvale Primary School, Donburn Primary School and more! I believe participating in these Interschool Sport activities is a great opportunity to learn how to play as a team, encourage teammates, be a good and fair opponent and have fun! Interschool Sports is very good for health, as you are exercising all day! Overall, I think that both our mixed and girls team performed incredibly well, and I’m sure all the sports teams did their very best even if the other schools weren’t so fair.

Hayley - If you’re like me I love sports and especially competing. Last week I competed in Rounders with Janelle, Stephanie, Zoey, Elena and Chloe, Sophie and Rafaela (from grade five). We competed in the girl’s team with the mixed team. At first, we were very doubtful of if we’re going to win, if we get humiliated and stressed in general. We practised once or sometimes twice a week. We all encouraged each other when we were batting and fielding. Rounders is similar to Softball if you know how to play. We versed many different schools such as; Donburn Primary School, Doncaster Gardens Primary School, Donvale Primary School and St Gregory The Great Primary School. even though we didn’t win all of them our girl’s team are very proud of how we did. We won two games to Doncaster Gardens and Donburn. I think all schools did amazing. There was definitely some cheering, happiness, encouragement, supporting and disappointment. I think we were outstanding considering we don’t practise as much as the other schools. Overall Interschool Sports is a great way for everyone to meet new friends, exercising (while having fun) and just pure happiness. I encourage everyone to start a sport it’s a new experience for some people and will be a great one.

Vivaan - On Thursday the 7th of March, the Grade Sixes all went to go up against other schools in specific sports. I personally was on the Cricket team, and it was a blast. Even though our team's results weren’t the best, everyone had a great time and gave it their all. Some of the schools that we versed were, Saint Gregory Primary School, Donvale Primary School, and Doncaster Gardens Primary School. These schools were a little too advanced for our level so our goal is to practise more and hopefully win. We all learned about sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and some of us were competing for the first time and playing these sports for the first time. We were all really supportive of each other and I can’t wait for the next Interschool Sports event to roll around and hopefully we can win next time.
