The Elite Volleyball Program achieved outstanding results at the Intermediate Schools Cup, with our teams demonstrating both skill and exemplary sportsmanship. Our Year 9 boys claimed gold and the state championship title, while our Year 9 girls secured silver and finished second in the state. What made these achievements even more special was the recognition from parents of opposing schools, who specifically noted the teamwork and spirit with which our students played the game.
A particularly impressive result came from our Year 8 girls team, who finished 5th in the Year 9 Division 1 competition. Competing up an age division, this represents the best performance our Year 8 teams in recent history and highlights the developing strength of our program across all year levels.
Seventy students participated in our Year 7 EVP 2026 trials, showcasing an impressive depth of talent among prospective athletes. The quality and enthusiasm displayed during the trials has been exciting to witness, and we look forward to extending offers soon to begin developing our future elite competitors. This strong turnout reflects the growing reputation of the EVP and the opportunities it provides for young athletes. We want to congratulate all Year 6 students who stepped up and were brave enough to trial for the EVP and we hope they continue to explore their interest in the sport regardless of the outcome from their trial.
We are witnessing a remarkable step up in leadership from our senior athletes, with many volunteering their time to support both the Intermediate Schools Cup, Junior training sessions and primary school trials. These dedicated students are actively assisting in the development of our junior athletes, mentoring and encouraging the next generation of EVP participants. This commitment to giving back is a true testament to the culture and buy-in we have fostered within our program, demonstrating that our athletes understand their role in building the future of EVP excellence.
