Its mid year, almost end of Term 2, and for those of us with Year 12 students, very near the end of secondary schooling! Time is flying by.
Thunderbolt: The Musical, a student written, directed, acted and stage crewed original work is premiering Thursday 24 July at 7:00 pm, with further shows on Friday 25th at 7:00pm, Saturday 26th July afternoon 2:00pm and the final show on Saturday 26th July at 7:00pm. Don’t miss out on seeing the musical event of 2025!! Get your tickets here!
As it gets colder, please ensure your students know where their school jumpers are. We have had feedback that the price of a new jumper is unaffordable for some. We do keep a very close eye on prices, and discounted the wool jumper to bring it under $50. If this is still too high, or you have bought more jumpers to replace lost ones than you care to, there are many second hand jumpers available in most sizes, and free jumpers available from the school administration team. No need for any student to freeze or be in non school uniform for warmth. There are also track pants, both new and second hand in the uniform shop for cold legs, and more scarves are on their way. Some Year 12s have marked the school scarf as this year’s Winter fashion must have, so check in with the uniform shop for this hot item.
Our general meeting last Monday night set a new record for brevity – finishing at 7:52pm! Deputy Carolyn Spears presented on our school review survey. The results will be released very soon, but the main points were teaching practices, curriculum choice, extension programs and wellbeing hubs were working well, while the school will be concentrating on strengthening student, parent and staff relationships, improving equity for all students and working to increase opportunities for students and parents to engage, and be heard in our school. On this subject, we are finally attempting to bring more of you into our P&C meetings with Zoom. It takes a little bit of technical skill and equipment, so watch this space for a Zoom link coming soon. Our next meeting will be the first Monday back in Term 3, July 14th at 7:00pm in the library.
Poparts reported that their Triva Night took in almost $3000 and was a great night for all. Keep an eye out for next year’s trivia night dates to join in.
Our Student Support Parents Group had a very rewarding meeting at the end of May, as they usually do, where parents shared insights of their experience with NDIS plans. Our wellbeing Head, Emma Cullen was in attendance, as she regularly is, so come along to join your fellow parents in your supported learning journey. Meetings are in the library at 7:30pm on the last Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise advised. Contact the chair for more information at sspg@tgshspandc.org.au.
Our chaplain, Kristen, is running a raffle to support the work she does running breakfasts and keeping up with students who need a listening ear, or some downtime in her very welcoming chappy room. Buy tickets here to continue supporting Kristen’s great work.
Finally, our tuckshop is continuing to introduce warming menu items, as well as opening a new/revived venue. Keep an eye out for hot beverages and toasties coming soon from The Sport’s Hall Café!
