Bill Turner Cup & Trophy teams

On Thursday May 29 the boys Under 15 team ventured out to Aspley to participate in the Bill Turner Cup gala day. The boys had a big day ahead of them, with games against Aspley, Albany Creek, Kedron and Northside Christian College.

Throughout the day, the team applied themselves superbly walking away with a win, a draw and two close fought losses. The entire team can be proud of their efforts and how competitive they were against much more established teams. Overall, the whole day was a great display of the students stepping up and flourishing on the football field.

The under 15 girls attended the Bill Turner soccer Trophy at Aspley State high school and it was a very fun and enjoyable day with the girls putting their best effort in to represent the school. In our first game we played Albany Creek and lost by 1 nil despite taking many shots on goal and being well and truly in control of the game for almost the entire 40 minutes. Our second game we played Kedron and won 4-1. It was a really dominant performance by the girls who strung their passes together very effectively with perfectly placed passes setting up their teammates for exceptionally executed goals. Our final match was against Aspley State High and went down 3 nil in this game. On the surface that may have looked like a loss but the girls did exceptionally well given that the Aspley State high school team is stacked with representatives at state and national levels.

Standouts over the course of the day was Chloe W who had an exceptional command of the football, excellent teamwork and great respect for her opponent. She often created havoc in attack and was always looking to set up her fellow teammates for their own opportunities to score. Sarah our goalkeeper was exceptional through the course of the day receiving many shots on goal and stopping 95% of them. Annika a year seven pocket rocket impressed as a player with ability beyond her years. She muscled up on the opposition making it hard for them to get past her. In the back line, Ella was a brick wall in defence – strong, steady, always consistent and always placing the ball in the right position to the advantage of our team in attack. All girls had a lot of fun, played very well and were an absolute pleasure to coach for the day. There are many talents within this team and there is no doubt that the girls will have great success moving forward.
