Student Achievement - Hayley E

We are excited to share some wonderful sporting news about Hayley.

Hayley has been playing with the Carlingford Baseball Club for the past two seasons and this year successfully trialled for the U12 Girls Representative Team for Hills. She was selected for the team and has been training three times a week under the guidance of coaches Jeff and Andy as they prepared for the State Championship.

During the April school holidays, Hayley competed in the championship with her team over three days, playing four games. She was the starting pitcher in two of these games and delivered outstanding performances. The team won their first three games and finished at the top of the table, before narrowly going down to Cronulla in a hard-fought match.

Following their strong results, the team has now been invited to represent the Hills in the Little League Girls National Championship in Queensland, taking place from 7–11 July.

Well done Hayley!

Recycling for Rewards

We're excited to announce the launch of our 'Recycling for Rewards' Drive, a new initiative led by the P&C and our School Environment Student Leaders. Beginning Week 2, Term 2, we will be collecting eligible recyclables every Wednesday morning on even weeks (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10).

On these designated days, Year 6 Student Leaders will bring dedicated recycling bins to the top gate of the school for collection. Families are invited to bring in plastic bottles, cans, and poppers with the '10c Return and Earn' symbol. All items collected will be used to raise funds for important Year 6 projects, such as the traditional Year 6 gift to the school and to help subsidise expenses for special Year 6 events like the Year 6 Farewell.

This initiative is a fantastic way to support our students, reduce financial pressure on Year 6 families, and encourage everyone to care for our environment!

Important Notes:

  • If your family already participates in the Return and Earn program with your children, we encourage you to continue this. It’s a fantastic way to teach the value of saving and financial literacy!
  • We ask that you only bring recyclables that would otherwise go into your yellow bins at home and are eligible for Return and Earn.

If you have any questions or would like to support the program further, please contact the school office or your P&C representative. Thank you for supporting both our Year 6 students and our school's sustainability efforts!
