Cold Weather Uniform

The cold weather has arrived after what has felt like an extra-long summer this year. Last week, temperatures were still as high as 24 degrees whilst yesterday, it was a top of 9 degrees. Therefore, it is now time for a reminder about winter uniform at Boorowa Central School.

All students are expected to wear full winter school uniform during Terms 2 and 3. Winter uniform does not include hooded jumpers of any type. It is an accepted practice at our school that students can wear a warm coat over the top of their full school uniform, but not to replace the uniform.

Blue school jackets are available at the canteen for $60. These are wind proof and water resistant and very high quality. If your child needs a jacket, secondary students can buy these directly from the canteen. Primary students can be provided with a jacket after payment from a parent.

If your child is in need of a jacket and you would appreciate assistance in purchasing one, please contact the school. I would be only too happy to help provide a warm school jacket for the winter months ahead.

Preschool Update

Boorowa Public Preschool’s building has arrived!

Wednesday 6 May was a very exciting day at Boorowa Central School with a large crane lowering 12 building modules onto the site for the Preschool. Staff, students and community members alike enjoyed watching the process unfold and marveled at the size of the project and how smoothly each section of the building was added.

Starting today, the building will move into a different phase of preparation with the aim to gain service approval and to open in Term 3.

Boorowa Public Preschool – Expressions of Interest are now open!

Parents can now express their interest for gaining their 4-year-old a place in Boorowa’s Public Preschool for 2026 or 2027.

Simply click on this link to learn more about our preschool and to download the ‘Expression of Interest’ pdf. When completed, it can be emailed to the Boorowa Central school: boorowa-c.school@det.nsw.edu.au.

This expression of interest will reserve your child’s place in the Boorowa Public Preschool until we are granted Service Approval. Then, you will be invited into the school for an enrolment meeting and a tour of Boorowa Public Preschool.

Year 12 Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews

Year 12 Semester 1 Reports were released to parents on Thursday 7 May. These reports provide an insight into the academic progress your Year 12 student is making in their final year of schooling. Each report includes their assessment rack and their outcome achievement levels. In addition, each report includes how each student is applying themselves in class and to assessment tasks, plus methods in which to further improve their results. Please carefully read each comment and discuss your child’s progress with them.

Year 12 parents also have the opportunity to speak one on one with their child’s teachers on Tuesday 12 May at the Year 12 Parent Teacher Interviews. These interviews will be in the school library between 4 and 6pm.

Please log into the Compass Parent Portal to book time slots with each of your child’s teachers.

We look forward to meeting with you on the night to discuss your child’s progress in Year 12.

Staffing / Timetable Updates

I sent a Compass notification to Secondary parents last week identifying a timetable change from next week. This timetable change was required as I have to this point, been unable to attract a replacement Mathematics teacher for Mrs White’s maternity leave.

Stage 5 students will be the year groups who will be most effected by this change as one of the 3 English / Math / Science classes was collapsed and absorbed by the remaining 2. This allowed the timetable team the flexibility to ensure that all classes have a Mathematics teacher.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school to speak with me.
