Last week, we celebrated World Teachers' Day, providing an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and care shown by our teachers each day. During assembly, we took the time to recognise and thank our staff, with several of the girls sharing why their teachers are so special to them. While this is always a busy time of year, it is important that we pause and show our appreciation for the significant contribution our teachers make to the learning and wellbeing of every student. As the girls shared their gratitude, it was a lovely reminder of we joined the teaching profession.
I can hardly believe how quickly this year has passed as we move towards the end of the school year. It is an exciting time as we begin to turn our attention to 2027, while also looking forward to a number of important events still to come. These include our Year 6 graduation celebrations, the announcement of the 2027 Year 6 Captains, the 130th Anniversary Service at St Paul's Church, the Junior School Concert, Iron Girl, House Aerobics and, of course, the Christmas Fair. There is something for every girl to look forward to before the year concludes.
Over recent weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming many of our new students for 2027, from Prep through to Year 6. It has been wonderful to see how warmly our current students have embraced the new girls, helping them feel welcomed and connected. Starting at a new school can be both exciting and daunting, and our girls should be commended for the kindness, care and inclusivity they have shown.
We are excited to see the journey of many of our ELC girls continue as they join the Junior School next year, and to welcome new students from a range of other ELCs and kindergartens. We remain committed to being a school where every girl is known, valued and supported as an individual, with personalised learning opportunities and a strong sense of community that is the hallmark of St Catherine's School.
A reminder that Thursday 12 November will be an Assessment and Reporting Day and is a student-free day. We will welcome students back on Friday 13 November. TeamKids is available all day should parents wish to use them.
