Visual Art

All classes spent their planning days finishing up work from Term 3. We have been very busy and can’t wait for you all to see the student’s amazing work at the Art Show! By now you would have received information about this fantastic event. The adults only night is on Friday 23rd October and the Family Day is on Sunday 25th October. All the students have worked very hard creating artworks that explore the theme of ‘Australian Made.’ I hope everyone has a fun holiday and are super excited for our Art Show in term 4!

Grade Prep

This week we had a master class in ‘Bush Tucker.’ The word ‘tucker’ was new to a lot of students, and we had so much fun making mushrooms, gumnuts, witchety grubs, and fish out of magiclay. This was a big hit with the students.

Staff Art Piece

Every art show year, we included staff art pieces. This year we created super large Allen lollies, and everyone had lots of fun getting their hands dirty using air dry clay. These will be painted and on display at the Art Show. Well done to everyone involved!

Prep: Students have used their imaginations to act out stories about Australian animals using stick puppets. For the Prep Planning Day, students enjoyed stories and songs about donkeys including the classic, The Wonky Donkey.

Grade 2: Students have rehearsed and performed an Aesop Fable using shadow puppets. They have considered the voice they will use for their character, what their character is saying, timing and how to show the shadow puppet is talking.

Grade 3/4: Students have written, rehearsed and performed the continuation of starter script with a partner. Their scenes focused on who they are, the relationship between the characters, a plot, stage directions and an ending.

LOTE (French)

Prep–Year 2 🇫🇷🇨🇦

Our Prep–Year 2 students have continued building their French vocabulary and conversation skills, with a particular focus on the months of the year and seasons in French. Students have been developing their understanding of when different seasons occur and practising using the French vocabulary in context.

We have also been exploring a range of French stories, learning new vocabulary and answering simple questions about the characters, events and key details. Students have been putting their language skills into practice through drawing, writing, labelling and speaking activities. It has been wonderful to see their confidence continue to grow as they use more French independently!

Years 3–6 🇫🇷🇨🇦

Our Years 3–6 students have now completed their Paper Bag Book Report assessments! Students finished their collaborative storyline posters before completing an individual piece that demonstrated their understanding of the whole story in French.

Through these activities, students have been able to demonstrate their understanding of characters, settings, key events and story structure, while using the French vocabulary and language structures they have developed throughout the term. It has been fantastic to see students take ownership of their learning and communicate their understanding in French.

To finish off the fortnight, students have begun exploring their French identity through a range of “All About Me” activities. They have been learning how to talk about themselves, their interests and the things that make them unique, while discovering new ways to express their identities in French.

Warm regards,

Madame Sara.
