Dear families,
Thank You for a Wonderful Term
As we reach the end of another busy term, I would like to thank all of our students, families and staff for their continued support and contribution to Williamstown Primary School. It has been another action-packed term with so many opportunities for our students to learn, grow and connect.
We greatly appreciate the support of our families and the positive role you continue to play in our school community.
Footy Day – Tomorrow
A reminder that tomorrow is our annual Footy Day! Students are encouraged to come dressed in the colours of their favourite football team or sporting club as we finish the term with a fun day together.
Please also remember that school finishes early tomorrow at 2:30pm. We ask families to ensure arrangements are in place for students to be collected at this time.
2026 WPS Art Show – Tickets Now Available!
The countdown is on to one of the biggest events on the Williamstown Primary School calendar – the 2026 WPS Art Show!
Our Art Show is always a fantastic celebration of creativity, community and, most importantly, the incredible artistic talents of our Willy Kids. This year is shaping up to be another wonderful event, and we can’t wait to see our school transformed into a vibrant gallery showcasing the work of our students.
Tickets are now available for our Friday night adults-only event through CompassTix. This is always a terrific night and a great opportunity for parents, carers and friends to come together, enjoy the exhibition and celebrate our school community.
Get your tickets, lock in the date and help us kick off the 2026 WPS Art Show in style!
Getting Ready to Welcome Our 2027 Preps
Preparations are well underway to welcome our 2027 Prep students and families to Williamstown Primary School, with our Prep Transition Program scheduled to commence early next term.
With four Prep classes joining us in 2027, we are excited to begin welcoming our newest Willy Kids into the school and helping them become familiar with our classrooms, teachers and school environment.
The transition program is an important part of ensuring every child feels comfortable, confident and excited about starting school. We look forward to meeting our 2027 Preps and officially beginning their journey at Willy Primary!
Prep Breakfast
It was wonderful to see our Prep students come together for their special Prep Breakfast yesterday morning. There was plenty of excitement as our youngest Willy Kids shared breakfast and enjoyed another memorable experience together.
A big thank you to our Prep team and everyone who helped make the morning such a lovely event for the students.
Melbourne Zoo Fundraiser
A fantastic effort from our school community saw our Melbourne Zoo fundraiser raise just under $500 to support endangered species.
It was great to see students embrace the animal theme and, importantly, learn more about how they can make a difference. Congratulations to our Junior School Council for leading such a worthwhile initiative, and thank you to everyone who contributed.
Year 1 Swimming Program
Congratulations to our Year 1 students on completing their swimming program. Across the program, students had the opportunity to develop their swimming skills, water confidence and understanding of water safety.
Thank you to our Year 1 teachers, families and swimming instructors for supporting the students throughout the program.
Maths Extension Program
Last Friday also saw the completion of our Maths Extension Program for selected students in Years 1–4. The program provided students with opportunities to extend their mathematical thinking, problem-solving and reasoning through additional challenges.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated and embraced the opportunity to challenge themselves.
Parent/Caregiver Opinion Survey – Closes Tomorrow
A final reminder that the Parent/Caregiver Opinion Survey closes tomorrow. Families who were selected to participate have been sent their individual survey link.
Your feedback is extremely valuable and helps us understand what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve. We encourage all selected families who have not yet completed the survey to take a few minutes to do so before it closes.
Reminders:
SunSmart – Hats Required every day!
A reminder to families that, as part of recent changes to our school’s SunSmart Policy, students will be required to wear a school hat when outside.
This requirement applies during recess, lunchtime, outdoor learning activities and other times students are outside during the school day. Students without a hat will be required to remain in designated shaded areas.
We encourage families to ensure hats are clearly named and brought to school each day. Thank you for supporting us in keeping our students safe while enjoying our outdoor spaces.
Have a Safe and Enjoyable Holiday Break
Finally, on behalf of everyone at Williamstown Primary School, I wish all of our students and families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break.
Thank you again for your support throughout the term. We hope everyone has the opportunity to recharge, enjoy some family time and return refreshed and ready for Term 4.
Warm regards,
Mat Montebello
