Year 12 Masterclasses  

As we approach the end of Term 3, our focus shifts towards our Term 4 Masterclasses. With normal classes operating for Year 12 in Week 1 of Term 4, Masterclasses will run for all Year 12 students across Weeks 2-3.  Boys have already signed up for their Masterclasses. 

For students who complete any General subjects 

To prepare students for sitting external exams, the College has developed a Masterclass timetable which allows targeted revision in a class of each student’s choosing. For each General subject, the boys have enrolled in two Masterclasses (e.g. two English Masterclasses) which cover different preparation topics.  

Across the two-week preparation period, there are two Masterclass sessions per day, one starting at 9:00am (period 1) and the other at 12:20pm (period 4). Students are only required to attend these classes (not Pastoral Group) and can leave once their class has finished. For students who complete less than six General subjects, this will mean they may leave the campus after the morning session or arrive later in the day on campus – on time for the afternoon session. 

For all Masterclasses, students will need to be dressed in full school uniform (including shaving, blazer and College bag) and ensure they have all required equipment for their subjects (e.g. calculators).  

Please be aware that it is a college expectation that when not in Masterclasses, boys are at home studying or making use of small group study sessions with students in similar classes with similar study habits.  Boys should not be socialising outside Masterclass times during the school day.   

The External Exam block runs from Monday 26 October to Friday 13 November 2026. 

For students who do not complete General subjects 

For boys who are not enrolled in any General classes, the College is running “Launching and Landing” – our VET Masterclasses across weeks 2-3 of Term 4. These classes are designed around the concept of life skills required after school. While these classes are designed for students not completing General subject Masterclasses, if your son has a break in his Masterclass schedule and would like to attend, he is able to do so.

For the VET Masterclasses, boys will be contacted by Ms Peacock with the program. While there are no formal classes outside of the timetable and boys are not required to be on campus, they are encouraged to take advantage of the support services at the College including working with Ms Peacock for individual help in career planning, developing employment resources or discussing tertiary education opportunities. Boys will be welcome to attend daily and sign-on using the QR code in 406.

Skills Masterclasses 2026

Sessions are run: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Students are required to register their interest in the above sessions this week. A registration form will be emailed to students on Tuesday. 

A reminder: Students must prioritise their general masterclasses if they have them.

Request for Leave – Unapproved leave over assessment periods 

Please know that if leave has not been approved for missing assessment (assignments and exams), that a summative mark of NA will appear on the End of Semester Report for the relevant subject. This is in line with QCAA policies in regard to leave and missing assessment and includes events such as family holidays. Students will still sit the assessment on return to school, and receive formative feedback; however, the result will not be counted towards the summative result at the end of the semester for the following reasons: 

• Deadlines for reporting not being met 
• Conservation of academic integrity 
• Workload of teachers and staff around marking and reporting times 

• The validity of the mark completed in timelines given for the assessment 

   

Please note that this does not apply to leave that has been granted for approved reasons (Illness, etc.) as per QCAA policies.  

The end of semester report will not be issued until all assessment has been completed. 

Exam Block | Make-up Exams

Please note that Students missing an exam during exam block, will be required to make-up that exam after-school, between 3.20pm and 5pm. Make-up exams will occur throughout the exam block and could be scheduled for any afternoon throughout the exam block. If all missed exams are not completed during exam block, make-up exams will continue to be scheduled until End of Term and into Term 4.

Students & Parents will be notified through the Curriculum Office, via an email, advising the rescheduled date & time in advance. As with all exam block expectations, students must be ready to sit any exam upon their return to school after leave.

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews – In Person

Year 7-12, in person, Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews will take place on Tuesday 6 October between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. Bookings are now closed and appointment schedules will be emailed the week before Parent Teacher Student Interviews.

Students are encouraged to attend these face-to-face interviews and wear their full academic uniform.

Marist Subject Support

Tutoring support will take place in the Senior Library and is open to all boys in Years 7 to 12. 

Old Boys Tutoring List

Please find here a list of Old Boys who are available to tutor your son outside of school hours. This list can also be located on the parent portal > School Links > General Links or via this link.

Please note it is the parent’s responsibility to organise and liaise tutoring times with the Old Boys.
