School-based apprenticeships

We have a few students who have recently started school-based apprenticeships: 

Couper Liddicoat and Will MacTaggart in electrical and Will Philip in carpentry. Congratulations, we wish you all the best. 

 

General Construction Induction Training (GCIT) course (formerly White Card)

Congratulations to the group of Year 10s who successfully completed the GCIT course on Monday. Well done. You will receive your White Card through the mail very shortly.

 

Queensland Training Awards State Final

We wish Mason Irving the very best of luck with the Queensland Training Awards State Final this weekend. Mason recently won the School-Based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Award for the Metropolitan region and is now a finalist. 

 

Work experience 

Work experience placements are now finalised.  Good luck to all participating students. Remember you are representing yourself and the College. Make the most of this opportunity. We thank the providers for their support. 

 

Students can undertake work experience in Term Four on request only. This is not a scheduled block. See Ms Stabik in the VET and Careers office early next term for an Expression of Interest form.

 

Work experience placement dates for next year will be detailed in the College’s 2027 calendar.

Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s 

Queensland Government

Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s covers the cost of your training when you choose a high-priority apprenticeship or traineeship.

 

To be eligible, you must:

 

  • be currently employed as a Queensland apprentice or trainee (under a training contract) in a high priority apprenticeship and traineeship qualification
  • have commenced (or were already undertaking) your apprenticeship or traineeship between 1 January 2021 and 30 June 2027

  • be aged under 25.
