Year 3/4 Learning Reflection

Grade 4 students had a fantastic time at Athletics Day last week at Keilor Athletics Track. Throughout the day, students participated in a range of events, including high jump, long jump, sprints, long-distance running, shot put and discus. It was wonderful to see students demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, encouraging one another and giving their best effort in every event!
This week, students in 4A and 4B have been working hard on their end of unit assessment task in Biological Sciences. Students selected one of three animals to investigate: a bull shark, kangaroo, or eastern brown snake. They then created a food chain for their chosen animal and wrote a Single Paragraph Outline (SPO) explaining the food chain and the different trophic levels within it.
Over the past few weeks, students in 3B have been following the SHPS writing process to create their own narrative stories. Throughout the unit, we focused on the importance of planning, editing and revising - great writing takes time! One of the highlights was partnering up to read their stories aloud. Students enjoyed sharing their work with a classmate, listening carefully for mistakes, and giving each other helpful feedback to improve their writing. It was fantastic to see the care and pride they took in making their stories the best they could be.
These narratives are now proudly displayed outside our classroom. If you're passing by, we'd love for you to stop and have a read! The stories will remain on display for the first few weeks of next term, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the wonderful work our young authors have created.
Today, 4A spent their final day with Miss Rosa before her retirement. Miss Rosa has made a positive impact on our learning and our classroom community, and she will be greatly missed! We wish her all the very best for a happy and relaxing retirement!
