 Year 3/4 News

Literacy

In Literacy our Grade 3/4 students have been learning how to search for and use information in non-fiction persuasive texts. They have been identifying key facts and details, noticing how authors use language to convince readers, and using this information to support their own ideas. These skills are helping students become more confident readers and thinkers, able to evaluate information and express their opinions clearly.

We have also started planning for our Lions Club Speeches. See information below.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, students have been learning how to add and subtract fractions with common denominators. Students have been practising identifying the denominator that stays the same and combining or subtracting the numerators to find the answer.  It has been fantastic to see students challenging themselves and explaining the strategies they used to solve fraction problems.

Students have also been working hard to complete assessment tasks. These tasks provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and showcase the progress they have made throughout the semester. We are very proud of the effort, persistence and positive attitude students have shown during this busy time.

Coliban Water

As part of our Inquiry unit, we were lucky to welcome a representative from Coliban Water to our school. Students enjoyed learning about the water cycle and discovering how water is carefully managed to ensure families and farms have the water they need. It was fantastic to see the students ask questions and show such curiosity about this essential resource!
