Last Friday, our school held a special event to celebrate Education Week. Students, their special visitors and staff enjoyed an extended lunchtime together, taking part in a range of games and activities around the roundabout area. Everyone was treated to a sausage sizzle lunch and an ice-cream with sprinkles, before we held an early assembly for those who wished to stay.

A huge thank you to Sam Fuller for being our chief cook on the day, and to the staff and parents who generously gave their time to help make the event such a success. We would also like to extend a special thank you to TheirCare for their generous donation of the ice-creams and sprinkles, which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

We need to confirm numbers as soon as possible.

The exclusion of written comments in student reports at mid year is a key recommendation by the Victorian Branch of the Australian Education Union. We do have some teachers who are union members and will not be providing written comments in the reports of the students they teach (families who this affects will be informed via Xuno early next week). All students will still be assessed and provided progression points that demonstrate their current levels of achievement and progress since the last report. Parents are able to utilise the provision of our mid-year parent/teacher interviews to discuss their child's progress. Please see the Office Matters page in this newsletter for more information regarding booking for a parent/teacher interview.

Yesterday our ten boys who have been a part of this year's Boys to the Bush Program completed their final day.  Last week saw the boys visit the Cod Farm at Torrumbarry and do some fencing work and dam cleaning before having a fish. Yesterday the boys headed into Bendigo where they visited the Central Deborah Gold Mine (and even got to pan for some gold themselves). The boys have had an amazing five weeks and learned a lot about their community and all the while focussing on the values of  Respect, Engagement and Community. Each week I have had a video update covering the activities, learnings and behaviour of the boys and I am thrilled to report it is always positive. Watch the clip below for the final video check-in.

Student Attitudes To School Survey (AtoSS)

Notification (via Xuno), was sent to parents of students in Years 4-6 regarding this annual event. The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. They survey asks participating students about their thoughts and feelings related to their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. Individual student results are anonymous, however the cohort results are provided to schools to make adjustments and improvements to learning, programs and wellbeing supports.
