INTERSCHOOL SPORTS EVENTS
Our senior students have been competing at Interschool Sports Events this term. They took part in the Campaspe Soccer Tournament earlier this month and some selected students from Grades 4-6 competed at the Campaspe Cross Country event last week. Congratulations to Sylvie, Wyatt, Willow and Harvey who have progressed to the Regional Cross Country.
Good luck to the Grade 5/6 students who are competing at the Campaspe Netball Tournament today. Go Locky!
PREP P.E
The Preps have been doing some great work in P.E this term. They have been exploring skills to develop hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. They have also been learning to follow rules of games and and how to be a good team player. Keep it up Preps!
This fortnight to P-2 classes finished off their Food and Fibre topic. Firstly, we looked at our preferences and how our 5 senses play a crucial role in our food choice. Students experimented with a range of food products to identify which sense they used. Finally, we finished off the unit by exploring food storage and hygiene. We practiced good hand-hygiene (washing for 20 seconds) and learnt about where we store foods to keep them fresh. E.g. fridge, cupboard or freezer.
In the 3-4 department we prepared and tasted a range of healthy smoothies. We used the AGHE to select good quality fresh foods that provide us with energy and lots of vitamins and minerals. Students produced a good copy of their recipe, which we will compile into a cookbook.
In the 5-6 area, students prepped foods to make their healthy wrap/sandwich/taco. Students were encouraged to select at least 1 item from each section of the (AGHE) plate model to ensure their wrap was healthy and hearty. Students produced a good copy of their recipe which will be made into a cookbook.
NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM
This week in Art students discussed Reconciliation Week. The Preps, Grade 1's and Grade 2's all listened to the Indigenous Australian dreamtime story "The Rainbow Serpent" and then completed artworks in response to the story.
The 3/4 students listened to the dreamtime story "How the Kangaroo Got its pouch" - check out some of their wonderful creations below!
The 5/6 students learned about Indigenous landscape artist Albert Namatjira and then created their own landscapes using watercolour paint for their background and air dry clay to create a gum tree in the foreground. They all did a fantastic job, well done everybody!
