Gold Trophy Winners at the Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival!

Congratulations to Mark Channa (yr 11), Annabelle Channa (yr 10), Czaree Rosales (yr 9), Kyle Manaois (yr 8) and Melandie Van Der Merwe (yr 7)!

As part of the Riverina Combined Schools Band, these five talented MCC students competed at the annual Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival (ASBOF) on Sunday 31st August, held at the University of NSW.

Along with their bandmates from Wade HS, Griffith HS, West Wyalong HS and Griffith East Public School, the students earned themselves a Gold Trophy in the Raymond Hanson Event for Secondary School Concert Bands.

This is a phenomenal achievement.  The Riverina Combined Schools Band entered a higher division this year, after winning gold trophies for the previous few years in the lower division.  Band Master, Mr. Rhys Thomas was ecstatic, saying "I knew they could do well, but I expected a bronze or silver, being their first year in this division.  I am very proud of them.  They've worked really hard for this and should all be tremendously proud of themselves".
